Bottle of Stories (75)
"I'm trying to focus on my cooking!" She opened her arms to emphasize the draining sink. "The meat I boiled, it has this disgusting smell," exclaimed Lealyn.
"Try cooking later, I will assist you next time."
"Lealyn, we have to leave," suggested Kid.
Lealyn jumped down the stool. "Why?"
"Someone will come and hurt you! In the near future, there will be people here and they want you gone." Kid waved his hand once, opening a passage to another place. "Go inside now. We will be safe if we are far from them."
"No, I will not run away this time," she said.
Jayson tried to convince her. "Lealyn, you should listen..."
"No," she cutted. "I know what happens when I ran from my problems. I will lose someone or something important to me."
"I see, you love this place." He closed the path. "Whatever you say, Lealyn."
"I can protect myself, Kid," she assured.
Jayson realized what is about to happen so he grabbed the knife at the corner.
"What are you going to do with that?"
"I know you are only going to protect yourself." He put the knife with the scabbard on his back. "I will use this if something happened to Kid because of you."
"Rude. You are only assuming that I do not care for Kid because of what I did in the past."
"What is it? Why are you arguing?" asked Kid.
"Let's go. I'll guard the back. Kid, you stay in the front and tell us when you noticed something."
"Okay," he approved.
"Lealyn, stay inside and observe all sides using the windows. We will give you time to plan once they came."
Lealyn only nodded.
They all stationed in their assigned position. After a few minutes, Jayson saw five figures at the distance. He notified Lealyn on the inside so she can relay the message to Kid.
"Are they near?" Kid suddenly appeared.
"Not yet." Jayson is so focused on the strangers. There are two men and three women in their group.
When they came closer, Jayson confronted them and did not let them pass closer to the house.
"What is your business here?" Jayson asked.
"Do you know a girl whose hair is pink and always with the blind kid?"
"Why?" he interrogated.
Their groups looked at each other before responding. "We are requested to apprehend her because she is too dangerous for humans."
"Guardian of Souls?" Jayson is about to grab her weapon in his back.
"She is not dangerous to anyone. I request you to go home instead and do not believe in baseless rumors," stated Kid.
"So she is here," they proceeded to move forward but Jayson blocked their entry and showed his knife. "What are you doing?"
"You are not going anywhere. I know you will try to curse her even though she has nothing to do with you people."
"Careful, Jayson."
Someone tried to grab Jayson on his arm but he easily dodged it and pointed his knife to the man's neck. The man raised his two hands in defeat.
The one comrade of the man threw powder to Jayson. Kid immediately pulled Jayson so they could dodge the magic dust. A woman released a smoke, making everyone unable to see in the thick gray blur.
"I can't see them." Jayson remained his guard high while Kid is holding to his shirt.
"They are spreading," said Kid.
"Can you open a passage going inside the house?"
"Sure," he waved his hand to open a path but he noticed someone approaching. "At my left!"
This time, Jayson is the one who pulled Kid and they went inside the passage.
"Lealyn?" called Kid.
They are on the second floor of their house. Lealyn is also there, staring outside the window. She observed everything that happened below.
"What's the plan?" Jayson hid his knife once again.
Lealyn glanced at them. "We will win."
